A vampire is a mythological and folkloric powerful being who were represented as feeding on life essences. Most of the vampires are presented as beings who fed on human blood from human beings regardless of whether dead or not (Goddu 130). Vampiric entities are present in most cultures making them the subjects of extensive historical and anthropological research. Brian Frost, one of the literary historians who have researched the issue of vampire extensively, argues that the vampiric belief and associated practices like blood sucking are as old as human civilization (Hatfield 46). He traced most of these culture beliefs to prehistoric eras, which means they were belief deeply engrained in human history. Therefore, vampires are legendary and folktales that are as old as man himself but their reality is yet to be proved.
