Trade unions have been one of the vocal social institutions that have bargained not only for the rights of the workers but also the rights of the poor and oppressed in the society. Since the era of industrial revolution, the relationship between trade unions and organizational management has been adversarial in nature since each group wants to protect the interest of those it represents.
Each side tried to push the other to the extreme in order to accept the terms proposed while the other side responded by the same impact to the force. This nature of relationship had adverse effects on the relationship between trade unions and organizations as the workers who were represented by the union became enemies to the organizations management they worked for. However, since the second half of the 20th century, this nature of relationship has been changing with the formation of human resource department which takes care of employee concerns at organizational level.
