Medieval period is regarded as one of the most important periods in historical development of music. This period witnessed great inventions in music and change of music styles with emergence of new genres of music. In France and Italy, this period is known to have given rise of love stories which were retold in songs and poets. Troubadours and Troubaritz are generic terms which are used to express poets and minstrels who lived and flourished in areas around Southern France and Northern Italy in early 11th and 13th centuries. These terms denote artists who have been greatly devoted to storytelling which was often taken as an art and they used to entertain huge crowds. They were invited in celebrations like weddings, and other medieval celebrations. Troubadour was a term used to refer to a composer and a performer of the new love songs. On the other hand, Troubaritz was a term used to refer to a female composer and performer.
