Organizational culture includes norms and practices that drive the organization. These are norms and practices that have been practiced and perfected by the organization over a long period of time. Just like in a normal society, organization culture defines the modus operadi or the way of doing things in the organization. Just like culture is important in identifying a one society from others, organizational culture is important in identifying an organization from the rest. This means that is the unique attribute that sets the organization from the rest. All members of an organization are expected to conform to organizational culture. Members who do not conform to organization culture are more like a liability to the organization than an asset. Therefore, health care organizations should get rid of employees that do not match their organizational culture.
