THE CONGO FREE STATE
During the time of colonization, Africa was partitioned into individual colonies owned by different European government. These colonies were not only an extension of their authority and influence but also strategic source of raw materials used in their industries. In the scramble for Africa, Belgium did not secure many colonies as compared to the rest of the European countries.
However, it secured one of the most expansive and mineral rich lands in Africa around the Congo Forest. The Cong Free State was considered a Belgium colony which was privately administered by King Leopold II of Belgians. In this paper we are going to review The Congo Frees State and how it was administered until it was granted independence.
