Modern technology has come up with strong surveillance tools. These tools including CCTV have been meant to improve the security situation in cities and in private places like banks. In the recent past Google has launched Google map which helps the user to locate places in the world using the Google tools. The paparazzi are an old profession but in the recent past they have acquired strong photographing tools including telescope lenses. However there are serious social, ethical and legal issue regarding the pictures which are taken with these tools and the subsequent public dissemination. This paper looks into how CCTV, Google Maps and the paparazzi have impeached on individual privacy. It discusses the social, ethical and legal issues surrounding the dissemination of the photographs which are generated from these tools. It also looks into the efforts that the Australian government is taking to create laws that address this issue.
