In the article “Seas Are Rising at Fastest Rate in Last 28 Centuries,”   which appeared in the New York Times on the 22th of February, 2016, Gillis discusses  scientific findings from the recent publications documenting fast rising sea levels compared to the previous centuries (Chapter2, “Weather, climate & climate change”). The author begins the analysis with a critical look at the tidal flooding getting worse in the U. S. coastal regions, which is directly attributed to the greenhouse gases and human activities. The increasing tidal flooding is affecting the life of the U. S. coastal communities in major ways, ruining life in such areas as Charleston, Miami Beach, Virginia, and many others where Americans used to enjoy sunny days.
