Case Study. Assignment

This assignment is to write a case study based on the text, School Segregation Then and Now: How to Move Toward a More Perfect Union, by Chandi Wagner (2017) accessible through the Course Reserve on Blackboard. As the author states in the Introduction:

This report examines the effects racial and economic segregation have on students and communities.  We present data that describes what enrollments in American schools look like now and show trends that contribute to de facto segregation. We also discuss outcomes in integrated schools, and offer best practices and policies, such as controlled choice, that can bring these benefits to more students.

Wagner’s report analyzes issues related to both racial and socioeconomic segregation, and then proposes policy solutions and describes best practices for dealing with the continuing existence of segregated schools in the United States more than sixty years after the 1954 Supreme Court decision, Brown v. Board of Education. The report also contains an extensive list of references and a list of web accessible additional resources.
