In the late 16th century, the United States was faced by a lot of problems related to security whereby many people were reported to be robbed violently. As a result of this the parliament passed the Second Amendment of the constitution in the country’s Bill of Rights. The Amendment was adopted in the country on December 15, 1791 and was aimed at protecting the rights of people to keep and bear arms. In the year 2008 and 2010, two Second Amendment decisions were issued by the Supreme Court where the court ruled that the amendment was aimed at protecting individuals’ right to possess firearms that are unrelated to service in the military and to use it for traditionally lawful purposes like self defense in their homes. It should be noted that traditionally people faced security problems and hence individuals required arms to safe guard themselves and use them in hunting.
