The growth and development of social media in the recent past has seen the development of different rules and regulations to ensure proper usage. Failure to follow the laid down social media rules and regulations leads to various risks as addressed below.

Bending rules in social media environment may result to spoilage of reputation (Scott, 2015). Management of a person’s or organization’s reputation is an art that requires lots of care in the social media environment. It is imperative to note that there are no gatekeepers when it comes to what one posts in the social media platforms as is the case in professional journalism where editors go through various posts before being published.
