Description

Political parties play an important role in governing a nation. According to George Washington, the first president of the United States, politics parties are supposed to “serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of a delegated will of the nation, the will of a party… to make the public administration the mirror of the ill concerted and incongruous project of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interest” (Gaking, 2008). This could be taken as statement that helped to lay foundation for political parties in this great nation but this has been greatly eroded by the duopoly party system of our nation as we stand today.
