In Chinese folklore, Tian is a character used for heaven or the sky. It is more like a force that gives natural order and also human life. Tian is an important part of the Chinese belief system and is closely integrated into Moism, Daoism, and Confucianism. It is important to note that the conception of Tian (regarded as heaven) and the political nature of human beings (tian zi or son of heaven) is important in the Chinese contextualization of the close relationship between religion, politics, and human morality. It is an important source of human value system in these three spheres. This study looks into the conceptualization of Tian by Xunzi and Mencius.
