There are different approaches in leadership (Bennis& Goldsmith, 2003). The trait approach focuses on personal attributes, motivations, and skills. Personal attributes like higher energy level, tolerance for stress, emotional maturity, self-confidence and others influence leadership. The motivation like need for power, achievement, and affiliation empower leadership while skills like technical, conceptual and interpersonal skills makes a leader better.  The leadership approach focuses on different leadership behaviors like networking, motivating, recognizing and rewarding, monitoring, and others that makes one an effective leader.
