In the recent past, there has been an upsurge in juvenile crimes.  The number of juvenile offenders incarcerate in the correction systems continue to grow in tandem with the growing number of prisoners in the United States. This has also lead to development of different criminal justice system in which juveniles are not tried in the incarcerated in the same correction facilities with the offenders.
