Interpretation of the Book of Lamentation in Relation to the Current Events of the World
The book of Lamentation was written by Prophet Jeremiah when he was lamenting the destruction of the city of Jerusalem. In the first chapter, which is in a poetic manner, it talks about a widow who weeps alone in an isolated corner. Chapter 1:8 says, “Jerusalem has sinned greatly and so has become unclean. All who honoured her despise her. For they have all seen her naked; she herself groans and turns away”. It means that the lady being referred in this book is the city of Jerusalem which according to the Bible is the city of God. In modern time, Jerusalem can be seen as the people of God. Jerusalem is seen to have sinned a lot and that is why God has deserted it and turned away from it.
