Impact of Institutionalization on Juvenile Delinquency
The effect of institutionalization is a topic that has flavored many debates in the realm of juvenile delinquency. It cannot be denied that the aspect of institutionalizing children to correct or prevent juvenile delinquency was created with the best of intentions. A plethora of research has however shown that there are various effects of institutionalization. This paper will seek to explore on these effects and establish their long term impact on juvenile delinquency. The paper hypothesizes that institutionalization is actually more of a cause of minors violating the law rather than a cure to juvenile delinquency. It is worth noting that the impact of institutionalization will be assesses from a psychological and sociological standpoint but it also impact on education, employability and other areas which will be mentioned in text.
