Spouse, Partner Permanent Visa to Australia Subclass 820 & 801 is a visa that authorizes temporary resident status toa spouse and a partner to live together in Australia.  This visa allows a two year period for the applicant to apply for permanent residents enabling the partner to live together in Australia. To qualify for this visa, one must be a de factor partner or spouse of an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident. The entire process takes to stages although both applications must be submitted at the same time with only one processing fee as required in Migration Act 1958 (Cth) s 30[1].  The subclass 820 for temporary resident is processed first and then subclass 8-01 for the permanent residence is processed after a period of two years. It takes about 12 to 15 months to process the visa.
