Description
In the late 17th century, Africans were shipped to Americas in thousands to work in the vast plantations as slaves. For more than 250 years, white landowners, mostly from the southern regions of the U.S., enslaved more than five million Africans (Elkins, 2013). Although slavery was abolished in about 150 years ago, the effects and the impacts are still evident today. Slavery has defined the social, political, and economic landscapes of modern America.
