As the business world becomes competitive, new avenues for gaining competitive advantages are arising, one of them being innovation and entrepreneurship (Greenhalgh& Rogers, 2006). Innovation and entrepreneurship presents business with a chance to improve their products or develop new products and services that disrupts the industry, and in the process setting a new growth path from their competitors (Bowman, 2011). Technology based industry leads the way of innovation especially in the mobile phones and computer software and hard sectors (Hughes, 2008). The industry has shown that innovation not only helps the individual company to growth their resource base and performance, but also leads to improvement of the industry as a whole.  It is the new lifeblood of organizations, but most organization are approaching it in the wrong way, making it difficult for them to successful innovate or benefit from their innovations. This report outlines how BHP Billiton can improve through innovation and entrepreneurship.
