Hoarding and OCD

Hoarding and OCD

Hoarding is known to be the inability to discard some things that are otherwise regarded as meaningless to others (Steketee, 2003). It is mainly observed in OCD patients as well as in several other neuropsychiatric disorders.  The mean age of people who can suffer from OCD can be between 22 to 36 years (Jenike, 2004).

Hoarding and OCD

This disorder is a chronic condition and causes patients to wax and wane.  It takes quite long to gain access to the correct treatment for this disorder but if given effective treatment, the most severe symptoms can be greatly reduced.  Most cases of OCD seem to be under diagnosed or under treated by doctors (Seedat and Dan, 2002).
