Freud on Dreams

Freud on Dreams

Despite the many criticism that Freudian psychotherapy had received on its failure to heal some mentally disturbed people, majority of work has been important in helping us to understand our basic insight and the connection between our insight and reality. One of Freud’s works that described our insight, in this case our emotions and our consciousness was his work on dreams (Brians, 1998).

Freud on Dreams

Basing on his work on repressed memory, Freud (1980) showed that our emotions which are far buried in our consciousness are likely to surface in forms when we dream.

Freud on Dreams

This means that dreams are not just empty emotions or construction of mind but they represent a connection between the consciousness and subconscious minds.  This in really true since unlike our ancestors connected dreams to divine portents or in some cases side effects of overeating or indigestion.
