The idea of social media and social networks was introduced in 1954 by J.A. Barnes. He described social networks as connected graphs where edges represented interdependencies and nodes represented entities. The edges could be trades, values, invitations or interactions. Entities could be groups, organization, individuals or governments. In recent times there are several web-based social networks that have outgrown the notion of the social network due to their size and capacity, for example, my space and Facebook (Ortega, 2016). Advancement in technology has brought the innovation of various platforms and devices that help in the efficiency of communication and world networking. These platforms include social media and social networking, which people and organizations use to interact with family and friends (Smith, &Szongott, 2012).
