Energy crisis is a term which be traced to the time of California electricity crisis and the 1973 oil crisis. The term “energy crisis” is closely related to the two terms, and in its simple definition it can be described as insufficient supply of energy to meet the domestic consumption. Taking the term literary opponents have claimed that there is nothing like energy crisis and the current situation is like what it had been in 1973 and in other years. But looking at the situation critically, one will realize there is in deed an energy crisis that we are facing and unless something is done it will pose more challenges to our nation and to the world as a whole.
The cause and effect of energy crisis can be traced to energy system in the world. Since the discovery of crude oil energy, there have not been concerted efforts by the world to come up with alternative energy that can replace crude oil. Economic systems in the world have been driven by crude oil and the demand has outstripped supply pushing the price to all time high. Apart from this natural disasters like Katrina hurricane dealt a major blow to the energy supply of our country.
Looking at what is happening around us, everyone will realize that there is something unusual going on in our energy supply system.
