Mainstreaming is a process of entering a child with special needs into the regular education process in the classroom. It has been noted that many children with disabilities have certain strengths in special education which make them capable of taking classes with non disabled children. Importantly, mainstreaming children with special education has faced some challenges depending on the type and degree of disability. In this case, a moderately retarded 11-year old child has an IQ scores ranging from 35-55 hence the learning process take longer time than the average children. On this basis, a teacher requires to keep on repeating to this child on whatever is being taught. It should be noted that, these challenges can be overcome if the child is given maximum supervision in whatever he/she does. A teacher should be there throughout to give him/her required communication skills (Deppeler et al., 2010).
