The family is perhaps the most important unit we have in our society. It has for a long time considered as the building block for our society and therefore its relevance in the society cannot be taken for granted. A family is the most ideal place for us to grow. More than anywhere else in our social life, we usually get a sense of belonging from our family. According to Sarantakos (1996, p. 28) the important roles that are played by the family do not end with providing a growth atmosphere for us but also emotional support and socialization. When a child is born, the family is the first social institution of socialization that they experience.
