Disaster Management Plan
There are different communities in the world that faces major disasters from time to time. However, there are some communities, especially in African, which face disasters that have annual cycle of recurrence. In most cases, these communities lives in sub-Saharan Africa and government response towards these disasters is hampered by unavailability of resources. This study will look at communities in sub-Saharan Africa that are faced by annual recurrence of major disasters. Due to lack of media coverage, most of these disasters goes unnoticed but the study has identified the northern area of Kenya, which is particularly dry and inhabited by nomadic communities. Due to increased media coverage, major disasters facing this area have been frequently highlighted by international news agency like CNN. However, little studies have been carried out on this area, which means there is scanty of information on this area. This study will rely on media news that has been reported in the last two years on major disasters facing this area. This plan for mitigation of disasters in this are will be important for organizations like Red Cross that have been active relief agencies and which have brought to the attention of the world major disasters facing these areas.
