There are different theories, models, and perspectives that are used to explain crime. From the onset, crime has been explained from classical perspective and from positivist perspective. The classical school is built on the platform that crime can be attributed to internal factors that are beyond human control. On the other hand, positivist approach perceives crime as a result of planned action that is influenced by nature. Positivist approach has attracted most theorists. One of the theories falling under positivist approach is choice theories. This paper will look at choice theory and how it relates to crime.
