Human communication is usually involved with making meaningful exchange of understanding. It is considered as the transmission of information from a person to another. Many communication scholars take it as the ideal definition. They use the Lasswell’s maxim of “who says what, and to whom, using which channel, and to what effect. This subscribes to the communication theory. In any effective communication, there should be a sender that transfers a message that has information to the receiver. Any break in this model causes miscommunication, misunderstanding or even conflict, what could in other terms be known as a communication problem. In the mentioned case, there seems to be several incidences of communication breakdown, for instance, there is a case where Mena is supposed to communicate to Simon about whatever is expected of him, she however fails to do this as she often became irritated whenever Simon inquired anything from her. In this case she is supposed to be the sender of the message while Simon is the receiver. Instead she decides to channel the information directly to the employee of the company during the meeting. At the same time, when Sharon makes a decision to put Simon on probation, she does not communicate to him until he finds out for himself. Even the head of personnel is surprised at this fact. When he sees the head of personnel and explains to her what had transpired, she is surprised at how the group gave her feedback. According to her that was not the practice of the company. She however comments that Sharon had to run the team in a manner that she saw fit. She made it clear that she did not want to interfere. The head of personnel then told him that he was on a six month’s probation. Simon then decides to look for another job without informing the management of the company.
