Causes and effect of computer hacking
Hacking has a lot of devastating of effects on computer users. Hacking is unethical use of technology with a motive of gaining an unauthorized access to personal information which is stored in the computer and therefore breaching the security and privacy of the users. Hacking, which is a part of the wider cybercrimes, is among the new crimes that have emerged with the advent of application of information and computer technology in the social and economic life in the world.
Hackers attack computers either for fun which means they don’t have any economic motive or for economic gains. Whichever the case, hacking has adverse effects on computer users’ including eroding their confidence on use of ICT, breach of privacy through loss of personal information, conversion of computers into zombies, and many others. The easiness with which hacking can be performed including right inside the hackers’ homes has proliferated the rates of hacking especially in the developed countries. Although hacking is a simple crime to commit, it erodes consumer confidence on use of computer systems due to breach of personal privacy.
