Case Study: Walkers Engineering
There are major problems that are facing Walkers Engineering and especially the packaging department. There are problems that appear specific to the whole organisation while other problems are specific to the packaging department.
As a whole organisation, one of the main problems lies in management. It is evident that although the organisation understands that there are problem that are affecting the packaging department, it has been slow to respond to these problems and has taken a “wait-and-see” approach to the problem. There is an evident conflict that continues to affect the department but the top managers in the organisation have remained mum while the problem continues to affect the operations of the organisation. Therefore, it seems like there is a breakdown in chain of control in managerial duties in the organisation. Top managers have not been able to solve the conflict ensuing in the packaging department despite the existence of hierarchical managerial duties.
