Penfolds is one of the leading wine makers in Australia. It is known for having nurtured four best wine makers in the country including Max Schubert, Don Ditter, John Duval, and Peter Gago. The button of making wine in Penfolds has been passed from one generation to another through the hands of the four wine makers for the past six decades. Penfolds traces its history to 1844 when young English doctors, Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary bought Mackgill estate that comprise of 500 acres of land (Penfolds, 2010). Mary Penfold took the first role of wine maker, not knowing that he was leaving behind a tradition that would give birth to Australians best wines.
