Question 1 – Alan Fazil ethical and professional responsibilities

Being the controller of the company, Alan Fazil has ethical and professional responsibilities in this case. He has ethical obligations of ensuring that the company operates in accordance to company’s ethical policy.  Fazil was well aware that the company had initiated a new repair and maintenance policy but he was not aware that workers had felt disgruntled by this new policy and therefore resulted to falsification of the work-order request. This means that the integrity of the company was at stake and being the controller of the company, he had the responsibility of guarding the integrity and work ethics of the company. Most important, Fazil position as a controller gave him the responsibility of analyzing, interpreting and controlling the company’s financial records. This means that any discrepancies in the financial records would have an implication on his work ethics. It is his ethics that would be tainted if there were tax implications on the company as a result of the dishonesty related to work-order requests.
