Cultural diversity can be defined as the existence of different cultural or ethnic groups in a given society. It is a situation where people who ascribe to different racial, ethnic religious, sexual orientation, and other cultural aspects as opposed to existence of only one cultural orientation or monoculture (Wells,2000). It can also be defined as inclusion of diverse people in a group or in an organization. Cultural diversity is becoming particular important in the world today because of globalization. This has an impact on all sectors of life, most important the healthcare sector. Health care organizations should promote an inclusive and cultural diverse workplace to ensure that all cultural orientations are accommodated within the workplace. Health care sector caters for people from diverse backgrounds,who come seeking health services and its workforce should also reflect such diversity to ensure cultural congruency (Lowe& Archibald, 2009).
