Nursing informatics is a science and practice which focuses in management of information and communication of data in the nursing profession (Androwich, 2013). Nursing informatics aims at improving information management and communication thereby, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and improving health care provision services. According to the American Nurses Association, nursing informatics is an area of expertise that brings together information science and computer science in efforts to handle and communicate data, information, and knowledge in the nursing profession (Ball, 2011). Nursing informatics defines ways on how to make simpler and enhancing health documentation by using enhanced computer and information technology. The main components of nursing informatics are data, information, knowledge, and wisdom, DIKW, and these forms the basis for the nursing community.
