American Psychiatric Association defines post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as an emotional or anxiety disorder which stems from incidences which evokes stress such as the holocaust, sexual assault, and car accidents, and even combat. One alternative treatment for PTSD among the soldiers is the Airsoft sport which is a simulation of the military activity in the battlefields. Airsoft is itself a subculture of the gun world as people of all walks of life carry their “guns” and enjoy the shooting sport at the range. The combat situations in this game are similar to those of the real battlefield, and it involves the use of military tactics, tactical equipment and accessories, military maneuvers and so on. These soldiers are placed in similar environments that aid in reproducing a manifestation of the disorder. Airsoft is effective to help soldiers overcome PTSD and drug abuse.
