Narrow and Broaden a Search. When searching for literature materials from the internet, two techniques can effectively be used to narrow or broaden a search. These techniques include topic identification and keyword identification. When the topic identification technique is used, the researcher identifies the topic to be searched and therefore searches the topic as a whole. The researcher writes down the synonyms or related words from the list of the importance words. This helps in broadening the search and getting the most appropriate materials. This technique is advantageous because it enables a researcher to get as many materials from the library as possible since all the materials with the selected keywords are available.
