  • Careful acquisition: one of the reasons that made Tyco diversification fail is acquisition of firms that only increased growth and not profitability. The main aim of every business and diversification for that matter is to increase a company’s profit. For this reason, Tyco could have acquired companies based on their profitability prospects and not for broadening the base only. United Technologies and Tyco International Ltd.
