Genesis and Gilgamesh Comparison

Liberals claim that the flood story in the book of Genesis is a re-written version of the Epic of Gilgamesh. Christian cannot agree.  Whereas the liberals point out close similarities between the two floods, Christian’s points out at certain differences that make the two floods distinct. The main character in the biblical story is Noah while the main character in the epic of Gilgamesh is Utnapishtim. The other similarities can be said to be common in ancient floods. However the nature of the vessels and the timing of the floods point up some crucial differences that was difficult to reconcile.
