Paper Prompt
For your Paper you must select Worker or Consumer Cooperative that is based on democratic control. Choose an organization in an industry that you find interesting. You must profile this organization. Provide its history and why it was formed. What is its story? How did it get started and why? Who are the workers? Where is it located? What type of Democracy do they practice (consensus, majority)? Does it have a social mission? What kind of impact does it have on the local community? Is it profitable? What benefits and pay do the workers get? For this project I recommend you actually find a worker cooperative, call and try to interview someone about the organization. As part of this paper, make sure you describe what a worker or consumer cooperative is and how they differ from other businesses. What do you think about them and how they function?
